Happy Easter!

We had a short but very busy week!

In Math we learned about standard units of time. We talked about seconds, minutes, hours and days. The students were given specific tasks to complete in one minute. That had a lot of fun trying to see what they could accomplish in 60 seconds. They tried to see how high they could count, how many hearts they could draw and how many times they could tie their shoes.

We discussed the months of the year and sang the catchy song..."30 days has September, April, June and November. All the rest have 31, except for February." We also talked about how many days are in a year and what happens in a leap year.

In Language Arts, we read a few stories from the Collection series. The students also read a story together in small groups and then completed a comprehension quiz on their own.

We completed another Survivor challenge to continue testing connectors and fasteners. The students built cubes out of toothpicks and tested the strength of marshmallows, puffed wheat and plastercine.

In Social, the students were paired up and worked on an open book quiz about Tunisia. They were able to pull answers from their lap book and the textbook. They did a really good job searching with their partner. It was a great way to review and they enjoyed trying to remember what part of their lap book the information was recorded in.

We had our assembly for our annual Spell-a-thon which raised approximately $9,500. This money will be put towards field trips and upgrading the technology within our school. A lot of prizes were handed out to the students and everyone was rewarded with a popsicle.

A few of our students participated in the lunch hour Cake Walk for the Grade 4 Drumheller trip.

For the last week and a half the students in our class have been trying to win an Easter basket. For every day they had their agenda signed, they recieved a draw ticket to win the basket. Congratulations to our winner!!!
