Happy Thanksgiving!

3B is thankful for so many things. This week the students worked on acrostic poems to reflect what they were thankful for.

Wow!! We have 3 students who completed 600 home reading minutes! They "flew" to Canada this week. The students are all encouraged to read a minimum of 20 minutes every night. They are also welcome to borrow books from our "classroom library" to read at home.

We continued our review of Patterns this week and completed part of a "Show What You Know" assignment. Please ask your child to create an increasing or decreasing pattern and give you the pattern rule that goes with it.
The students also played a new math game, practicing addition and subtraction. They loved "swatting" the cards while recalling the basic facts.

In Social this week we continued talking about the different continents and specifically focused on North America. We singled in on Canada and talked about the provinces and territories. We learned that many of the students in the class were born across Canada, in varying provinces.

We read about the layers of the Earth in Science. The students learned about the crust, mantle, outer and inner core. We also watched a short video that compared the Earth to the layers of a watermelon.

We learned the letters Gg, Qq and Cc in handwriting this week.

In Physical Education this week, we worked on locomotion skills. The students rotated through 10 stations, building their gross motor skills.

For Art this week, we lightly sketched scarecrows on watercolour paper. The students were very focused working on this activity. The scarecrows were then traced with sharpie markers and details will be added with wax crayon before the watercolour lesson on Friday.
