Have a fabulous summer!!!

The last three days of school were packed with FUN! The students participated in "free swim" with their friends. They enjoyed water basketball, the diving board and playing with the floaties. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped supervise the students both in and out of the pool!

We had our annual FUN DAY! There were 14 different stations set up around the school yard. The goal was to complete as many stations as possible in the afternoon. They enjoyed skipping, watermelon, potato sack races, parachute games, scavenger hunt, rainbow loom, bubbles, chalk, Lego reading under trees and a photo booth!!!

We had our year end class party which the students planned through our Data Analysis graphing unit in Math. We had root beer floats, Chicago mix popcorn, Cheetos and Life Saver gummies. Thank you to all of the families who sent in food! YUM!!! The students also voted on a movie..."Sing"!

The students all went home with an autographed beach ball to use throughout the summer and remind them of all of the new friends they made this year!

We celebrated our own culture with a mini Canada Day party! Happy 150th Birthday Canada!!!

We would like to thank you for all of your support this year! Have a WONDERFUL summer and we will see you in the fall!

Last FULL week of Grade 3!

The students enjoyed another full week of swimming lessons. They should have brought their report card home on Friday. Next week we will be doing "free swim" on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday! The students are excited to splash around with their friends and hopefully head to the deep end for a jump off the diving board. If you are able to join us so that we can have extra eyes on these kiddos, that would be wonderful!!!

We had a special guest in our school to teach the students about farm safety. Our Grade 3 class completed a program called "Hear, Hear, Listen Up". They were reminded about keeping our ears safe so that we do not damage our sense of hearing and when proper safety headphones should be used.

In Language Arts, the students worked on finishing their All About Me writing project. Their goal was to write and illustrate five paragraphs about themselves.

We also completed a page for our Memory Books. The students brainstormed enough ideas to fill all 3 whiteboards!! They then chose their top 10 Best Memories of Grade 3 to write down.

We completed the last four letters in our cursive duotangs and then they worked on some practice pages. They are pretty excited to be able to hand write and do their own signature.

In Math, we finished our measurement unit by comparing units of gram and kilogram. We used a scale to estimate and measure a few objects around our classroom, including one of our students. We also discussed units of time and compared seconds, minutes, and hours.

The students completed their Data Analysis unit. We surveyed and graphed some favourite snacks for our party next week. The students surveyed all of the students in the classroom, tallied the results and then created bar graphs.

We completed our last culture study and celebrated Peru by enjoying a few snacks. The students also painted their Peruvian masks.

Thank you to our Student of the Week for the DELICIOUS dessert!!
