In Language Arts, the students finished working on their sloppy copies of their job applications. The business letters were edited and then they worked on good copies. They did a really good job providing evidence and using persuasive words to support the job criteria for the position they chose.
The students worked in their "Language Notebooks" adding information about verbs. We reviewed what a verb is and came up with a list to add into our booklets for reference.
After completing their notes on verbs, the students roamed around the room completing task cards. The students were required to write the verb from each sentence on their answer sheet.
We read chapter two in "The Mouse and the Motorcycle" and then the students made a web of adjectives describing the toy motorcycle. They used the novel for reference and worked with a partner to complete the activity.
In Math, they students worked on...
-understanding when to use multiplication and division to find missing information
-using multiplication and division sentences to solve word problems
They also completed Easter word problems.
We continued reading about culture in Ukraine. This week, the student read about the government and how their leaders are chosen. After reading the chapter together, the students were given time to complete sketch notes about what they learned.
We had a special guest for PE this week. He taught the students about triathlons and the three different parts; swim, bike and run. The students trained and completed a "mock" triathlon in the gym using scooters for both the swim and biking portion. The sure had a ton of fun and looked forward to race day!
The students enjoyed a bit of crafting this week as they created bunny pencil toppers with pipe cleaners. Together, we watched a step-by-step tutorial, pausing after each step. The students were pretty proud of their final projects.
We also had a surprise visitor to celebrate the upcoming holiday.
Way to go!!! Here are the super star readers for the week!
