Cutest picture of the evening...helping him with the buttons! So sweet!!! |
Thank you Mrs. Stanski for all your hard work preparing us for the Christmas concert!
Robina Baker's annual Christmas Caroling took place each morning and we joined in for the special event.
We hope you all enjoyed your Christmas gift. The students worked very hard to make them extra special for you! Thank you to these crafty ladies for helping the students make the cute cards to go along with the presents.
In Language Arts, we continued writing about our special visitor from the North Pole. This week, he even added himself to the behaviour chart! We would have to agree that he has stayed out of mischief and made very good choices inside our classroom.
Buddy also built a snowman in our room!
Before saying good-bye to Buddy he made a special delivery and brought Santa's letters. The students loved sharing these letters with their classmates. Once again, Santa made this year extra special and magical for the students. The class was sad to say good-bye to Buddy at the end of the week but they hope he visits RBES next year.
We continued practicing our readers theater and performed for a few classes! The students did a great job and worked hard on making sure they had loud voices and used expression.
We also completed a Snowman Glyph activity, where the students had to draw a snowman based on their answers to questions asked. For example, the number of snowballs making up their snowman had to equal the number of family members they have.
In Math, we practiced regrouping ones and tens by drawing pictures of base ten blocks.
We also completed some Christmas math word problems. The students needed to show their work, write a number sentence and answer the word problem in a complete sentence.
They also worked on their mental math skills by playing games called "Race to Rudolph" and "Double the Gifts".
We have completed minus 4 in our mad minute practice and will begin with subtracting 5 after the break.
Congratulations to our super reader this week!
For gym this week, Mr. Van Huis taught our class some cup stacking skills. The kids watched his demonstrations closely and were able to follow the basic setting up and taking down of the pyramid.
On Friday, we celebrated the holidays with pj and stuffie day! We enjoyed a Christmas brunch, decorated gingerbread houses with buddies and watched a movie in the gym.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our brunch. A special thank you to these two moms for coming in to make pancakes and get our breakfast all ready for our class.
Our gingerbread houses were a hit! The students loved being creative with their candy and icing.
The students enjoyed "Brother Bear" in the gym. They sure looked cozy!
