Our school decided to have smoothie carts as part of the Nutrition Program Initiative. We have two carts available for classes to use. They are equiped with a variety of ingredients, supplies and a Vitamix machine. 3B was the first class to give it a try! We added orange juice, cranberry juice, a banana, avocado, spinach, yogurt, ice and frozen berries. It was delicious!
Every morning the students are so excited to see where Buddy has placed himself for the day. Most of the kids run into the classroom before even taking off their coats and backpacks!! They enjoy writing and illustrating their morning report and have been working really hard on creating good grade 3 sentences that contain a lot of detail.
We finished watching the "Polar Express" and then did a comparison and contrast between the book and the movie. They students were able to come up with a lot of similarities and differences.
The students worked on the good copies of their letters to the North Pole. They were delivered early in the week and we hope to get them back before the students leave for the holidays.
For our read alouds this week, we read from our Collections Series and started a readers theatre called "The Gingerbread Man at Christmas". After practicing together as a class, the students were broken up into two groups. We are hoping to read to a few classes next week.
We completed a making words activity with the mystery word GINGERBREAD. The student created MANY 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 letter words out of these letters.
In Math, we covered the following concept...
1. Students learned how to regroup and write numbers as sums of ones, tens and hundreds in different ways.
We are going to move slowly through this part of the unit because it is very important for the students to understand regrouping. We will continue practicing next week!
Way to go! We had so many kids fly to new countries this week!
Congratulations to our new Student of the Week!
