For writing this week, we started working on descriptive sentences to go along with the "Snow Globe Family" story that we read last week. We talked about adjectives, which describe nouns and adverbs, which describe verbs. The students also worked on beginning their sentences with different "sentence starters".
In Math, we worked on 3 digit subtraction with regrouping. We have had a lot of practice and most of the students are becoming very confident in their abilities.
We are nearing the end of our "Hearing and Sound" unit in Science. The students worked with a partner to explore different sound centres. The centres helped the students explore volume, pitch, vibrations and frequency. The students brought home their instrument assignment. They will be presenting these on Tuesday. Please make sure they also bring back the blue booklet which includes their self-evaluation and rubric for the assignment.
They had such a great time making noise!
The students also explored a link on the Blackgold website that gave them information about 5 different animals and how they hear. We have included the link, in case you are interested in checking it out with your child.

In Art we worked on a Valentine's Day project. The students sketched trees (trunks and branches) using different kinds of lines. Then they used their thumbs to paint leaves of different shades.
Here are the Home Reading super stars for this week!
