Our butterflies emerged!!!

Wow!!! It was such an exciting week. Our butterflies have finally emerged and the students were amazed! It was a wonderful opportunity for them to watch the life cycle and this tiny miracle that happened within our classroom. Next week, we will take the enclosure outside to let the butterflies free.

They have also been watching their sunflowers grow, making sure they have enough water and sunlight each day!

In Language Arts, the students have spent a lot of time typing their fairy tale stories. As they type, they have been trying to edit their own work, by correcting spelling mistakes and making sure they have the proper punctuation. After we give them a final proof read, they will be printed out and ready for illustrating.

This week in Math, the students measured and recorded the width and length of objects using meters.
They also worked on problem solving questions using addition and subtraction to find totals or compare lengths. Then they worked on problems to change meters to centimeters and changing mixed measurements to centimeters.

We started learning about our final country in Social Studies. We will be using a National Geographic website to find information about Peru. The students have a workbook that they will be using to record their answers. This week, they learned about the geography, language, population, famous rivers and coloured the flag.

Congratulations to a few students who were eager to fly to new countries.

On Wednesday afternoon, our school participated in our second Wellness Day! The students rotated through a variety of stations that they signed up for....drumfit, yoga, nutrition, games and art.

On Friday, half of our class attended the track meet and did a great job representing RBES!

We hope everyone had the opportunity to enjoy one of the many Devon Days activities this weekend. Thank you to all of the RBES students who came out to support our school by joining us in the parade. We had the cutest cowboys and cowgirls in Devon! It was also nice to see a lot of our students and parents watching and cheering us on!
