This week, we read a story about a favourite summer activity called, "A Camping Spree with Mr. Magee". As a class we completed a story map.
The students were then asked to write a story about their own camping adventure. They started by organizing their thoughts into a story map and then began working on a rough copy.
They also had the opportunity to share their opinion writing that they wrote last week.
In Math, we learned about related multiplication sentences. For example 4X5 gives us the same answer as 5X4.
We also looked at division being equal groupings. The students used counters to divide a larger number into equal groups and create a division sentence. They realized that this was opposite of the multiplication sentence.
We continue learning about Life Cycles in Science. We had a special delivery last week! A shipment of caterpillars arrived and were put into individual containers. Each student had the opportunity to choose their own caterpillar and give it a name. The students have been watching their caterpillars closely and observing any changes that have taken place. Observations have been recorded in their Life Cycle Journals.
The students continued to work in their groups on the Social research projects. We are excited to hear what they have learned about the Peruvian culture.
For Art this week, we talked about layering and sihlouettes. The students created their own backgrounds by layering tissue paper and then drew and cut out black sihlouettes to make a camping scene.
