For Language Arts, we continued to share our opinion writing. The students have become very comfortable speaking in front of their peers.
We have been reading short stories from our last book in the Collection series. The students really enjoy these stories and have been working on their fluency and expression while reading aloud.
In Math this week, the students did some more practice with 'division as sharing'. They used bingo chips to create equal groups and wrote the corresponding division sentence. We also did some practice relating division to multiplication using arrays. The students used their whiteboards to draw out and write division and multiplication fact family sentences.
The students learned that division can also be thought of as repeated subtraction. For example, 12 divided by 4 is the same as 12-4-4-4. They practiced these number sentences using a number line and skip counting backwards.
In Science, we are continuing to record our Painted Lady Butterfly observations and learning a new fact each day. All of our caterpillars are at the chrysalis stage and one emerged this weekend!!We are also on the final stages of our Life Cycle research project. The students are working with their partner to arrange their research and pictures on to a poster board.
The students were so excited to have Ginger rotate through the class one more time! We love hearing about her adventures each day!!
For Gym this week, we were SO lucky to have Mrs. Pigford teach us a yoga class. The students LOVED their gym block with her and left feeling relaxed and recharged!
We also enjoyed some time outside to play t-ball and soccer.
For Art, we worked with Mrs. Rothfos' class to create paper flowers. Our class paired up with a friend from 3D and made some beautiful flowers!
