We had a room full of happy, excited kids with some great costumes!
Thank you to our wonderful parents who supplied the delicious food for our party!!!
We enjoyed a few rounds of Halloween Bingo!
"Minute to Win It" was a favourite activity at the party. The kids were all so focused!!! This is also a fun game to play with the family. Your child may want to challenge you!!!
Our Halloween celebration ended with a school wide drumming performance.
The class also wrote paragraphs describing their Halloween costume this year. They were encouraged to use juicy and descriptive words to give the reader a clear picture of what they would be wearing.
The students have been practicing a Halloween Readers Theatre, working on their fluency and expression.
In Math, we continued to work on creating numbers with base ten blocks. The students demonstrated their ability to show the same number in three different ways.
We also learned a new card game, comparing three digit numbers.
In Science, the students were given a video to watch with a fill in the blank assignment. They reviewed the three rock types and the rock cycle.
We finished an art project that was started last week called, Monster Mama! We introduced the activity by reading the story called "Monster Mama".
The students were then guided through a portrait sketch. The drawing was then filled in with wax crayons.
The next step was to make the crazy monster hair. They did this by blowing paint droplets through straws.
We also had another art project to prepare. The Fundraising Committee has organized a Christmas card sale. We worked on our cards this week. You will be able to view your child's card next week at Parent Teacher Interviews. Order forms will be available that evening.
For gym this week, we played "wall soccer". We also played "Small Court Handball". This is a game where the students had to pass the ball to their teammates and try to throw it into the opponents net. They could not take any steps when they were holding the ball. They really enjoyed this game!
Congratulations to our students who have read 600 minutes! Please help your child reach this goal, if they have not already met it.
Congratulations also to our reader who has completed 1200 home reading minutes!!
The entire school gathered to say good-bye to Mrs. Becker. We all miss her soooooo much as she was such an important member of our school community. A beautiful song was sang to her by the students and a lot of tears were shed. The students and staff created a book for her. A plaque and bench was also made in her honor.
