Releasing the butterflies...

The students loved observing all of the changes that took place as the painted lady butterflies moved through the different stages of their life cycle! Thankfully, all of them were healthy and we were able to release them outside this week! The students were very patient as we watched the butterflies prepare to leave their enclosure.

In Language Arts, the students continued writing their fractured fairy tales. After each section of the story is written, they have been publishing them on the chrome books. They have been working on editing their own work and working with partners on peer editing.

This week in Math, the students learned about and compared different units of time; seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, and years. They also explored different units of mass and used referents and scales to measure grams and kilograms.

We read about the life cycles of different animals and completed a number of activities in their workbooks.

Using a website called PowerKnowledge, the students researched an animal of their choice and filled out a document about the life cycle.

The students were treated to a Ukraine lunch of perogies and sausage. They also enjoyed cake for dessert. They were so excited to receive their names written in Ukraine!

Here are the super star readers for the week!
