On Wednesday, we Rocked our Socks for World Down Syndrome Day. Our class participated in a variety of activities regarding inclusion and the well-being of people with Down Syndrome in our community and around the world. We watched a few short videos about accepting others, we read about Down Syndrome and created our own socks.
We worked on an Easter Cursive Writing book where our students had to complete Easter words without interlined paper. The size of their letters needed to be much smaller than they are use to as well. They did great with this activity and brought their books home to practice more over the break.
We finished our read aloud of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and then watched the movie during lunch to compare and contrast the book to the movie. After Spring Break we will begin "The Mouse and the Motorcycle".
For Math this week we used the number line to show multiplication and we modeled multiplication using arrays. We talked about rows and columns and the commutative property to find missing products.
The students learned a new math game to help them with their multiplication facts.
In Gym, we played Easter Tag and we also did fitness stations. The class rotated through a variety of strength and cardio activities.
Congratulations to our Super Readers this week. We hope all of our students are able to read a lot over the break and fly to new countries when we return!
