What a fun, busy week we've had!! We started the week with a few Halloween decorating projects. They look simple but required them to follow specific instructions for them to turn out properly.
Halloween was exciting and the costumes were awesome! We completed our Monster Mama art and played a variety of games.

Thank you to all the parents who sent in treats for our party! We had quite the feast!!
We completed our weekly draw and label activity and our rainbow spelling sentences. We are looking at changing up our spelling program in the weeks to come. We will send home more information about this when it is finalized.
We completed the letter Jj in cursive writing this week. The students love when they see handwriting on the schedule! Their cursive writing is looking great and we love how some even try to do their entire agenda note in handwriting.
The collections story we read this week was called The Finding Princess. There was a very important moral to this story. Please ask your child to tell you about it. We also read The Lad Who Went to the North Wind. We have finished reading the second book in the Collections Series. If your child would like to read these short stories with you, please let us know and we can sign out a book to send home. We will be taking a short break from Collections to start a novel study next week!
We spent a lot of time this week counting money to complete our unit on Patterning. We will be having a test on Monday on counting money. To help your child prepare for this test, have them count change at home this weekend. For example, have them tell you how much money 3 quarters, 4 dimes and 3 nickles is. They need to write the total amount in the format of $1.30.
Our class won tickets to the Oil Kings game through the Reading Give it a Shot program put on by the Oilers/Oil Kings. It was a late night for our class but they had so much fun!!
In PE this week, the students rotated through a variety of cardio and strength stations.
For Art this week, we read a non-fiction selection from our Collections series called "Amazing Animation". We discussed all of the different components that go into making a cartoon. We specifically focused on the animator and what their job is.

We also talked about adding details to our picture with a background.
We had a few students flying this week! Way to go on reading 600 minutes!
Congratulations to our new Student of the Week!
