This week we spent some time cuddled on the carpet reading Christmas stories.
We also read the "Polar Express" and talked about the characters, setting, problem and solution. The students were able to summarize the main events in the book. Our class has been working together, donating their DOJO money towards a class movie with popcorn. They voted on watching the movie, "Polar Express" so they could compare it with the events that happen in the book.
The students were excited to fit in a few letters of cursive writing. This week, we learned how to form an "i", "u" and "w".
Snowman Glyph and Find and Colour were some other fun activities we completed while they took turns completing their Christmas presents and wrapping.
In Math, we continued working on regrouping with two digit numbers. The students started to feel very confident with regrouping and some students began adding three, four and five digit numbers!!!
We also played a fun math tic, tac, toe game with addition regrouping questions.
Friday was pj, stuffy and blanket day! The students came to school in their coziest outfits. Our class also planned a Christmas breakfast. Thank you to all of the families that sent in food. We also had a few special moms flipping pancakes, making hot chocolate and helping the kids fill their plates.
Then they enjoyed each other's company and played some games.
In the afternoon, they all headed to they gym to watch a Christmas movie. They were treated to popcorn and juice.
Here are the frequent flyers for the week. We hope the students continue reading over the holidays!
Congratulations to the new Student of the Week!
We wish you and your family a very MERRY CHRISTMAS. Have a relaxing holiday and we will see you in the New Year!
