Education Week

For Education Week, our class was involved in school-wide peer learning. Three students from our class were chosen to teach other students paper folding...airplanes, fortune tellers and origami mice.

Our bridge assignment was due on Friday and this week we spent time sharing and testing our bridges. We were very pleased with the creative and effective bridges built.

We have begun our study of Peru. Thank you to Benjamin for sharing some exciting items and pictures. We are looking forward to exploring our final country!

We have started a Reader's Theater in Language Arts. They have been separated into three groups and have been working hard to learn their lines. We have been practicing fluency and expression.

In Math, we learned that division is a shortcut for repeated subtraction of the same number. Students practiced using repeated subtraction to answer division questions.

12 divided by 3

12-3-3-3-3=0 ( We subtracted the 3, four times.)

For Art this week, we decided to incorporate our life cycles unit in science. The students were introduced to the technique of pointillism and monarch butterflies. They watched a National Geographic video on these butterflies and they worked on their art.

Our first session is done. Next week, we will add colour to the wings.

Congratulations to our new Student of the Week!
