Education Week...

Thank you to our Education Committee who planned a variety of activities for the students and staff at RBES. We kicked off the week by enjoying a delicious pancake breakfast with some juicy fruit on the side. The students also participated in a school wide flower mosaic, collaborative story written by every classroom and a block of shared reading.

After five weeks of building a relationship and learning from Ms. Gobin, the students were sad to say good-bye. We appreciated her dedication to helping the students grow and wish her the best of luck in her teaching career!

In Language Arts, we completed our project based on the book "The Day the Crayons Quit". The students finished the good copies of their friendly letters by typing them on the chrome book. They were taught the proper format of the letter and checked over their work for spelling, capitalization and complete sentences. They also worked on title pages to make the project look complete.

The students were excited to rehearse a reader's theater about the complaining crayons. After practicing fluency and expression, they preformed the humorous piece of writing in front of an audience.

We read chapters five and six of "The Mouse and the Motorcycle". The students completed two activities; finding the problems and solutions in chapter five and writing about the mood at the beginning, middle and end of chapter six.

In our Language Notebooks, we talked about verb tenses. We wrote example sentences for the past, present and future.

In Math, we started our Measurement unit. The students worked on...
-estimating and measuring lengths to the closest centimeter
-drawing lines and objects of lengths, given in an exact number of centimeters, both with and without a ruler

In Social, the students started working on a final project for our Ukraine unit. They were put into pairs and assigned one of the following topics; culture, environment, government, goods, services, transportation, religion, food, celebrations and Easter. They will be summarizing the information we learned from reading the textbook and creating two slides for our class presentation.

In PE this week, we focused on volleyball. The students worked on their serves and bumps.

Here are the super start readers for the week!

Congratulations to our new Student of the Week!
