Happy Valentine's Day!!!

The class prepared for Valentine's Day by  creating monster mailboxes. They really had fun with this project!

On Friday, we celebrated friendship by playing games, enjoying snacks and exchanging valentines. Thank you to the parents who sent in food for our celebration!

The school also participated in Jump Rope for Heart. The students rotated through a variety of stations during their gym block.
We had another great week at the rink! Thank you to all of the parents who came to skate with the class and helped tie skates!
In Language Arts, we continued writing our spin off stories of the "Three Little Pigs". We brainstormed "instead of said" words for them to use in their writing.
We also read and discussed the final 2 stories from our Collections series on Fairytales. The students have enjoyed all of the stories in this reader. We will begin a new one next week.
The students had the opportunity to do some extra spelling practice on the chrome books. They love the different games available on Spelling City. The link to this site is on our blog. Please ask your child to show you it.

We started 3 digit addition this week in Math. The students had the opportunity so share their own strategies of how to add two 3 digit numbers.
We also did some extra practice with stacking.

We had many students fly on to new countries this week! We encourage you to continue reading with your children so they can travel around the world in the Amazing Race!
For art this week, we talked about warm and cool colours on the colour wheel. We created a Valentines themed drawing and used warm colours for the heart and cool for the background. The students enjoyed using oil pastels for this project.

Congratulations to our new Student of the Week!!
