Glitter and Glam!!!

Students were decked out in their best "Glitter and Glam" outfits!

The Grade 3 classes were fortunate enough to meet with author, Nicole Brook, from Leduc. She has recently launched the first two books of her new series "The Amazing Adventures of Abigail Andrews". She talked to the students about following through with their dreams... "DREAM IT, BELIEVE IT, WORK AT IT". The visit also included each student going home with a signed copy of one of her new books. A new book will be coming out in September and one of our lucky students may have the opportunity to be a character! The students have been asked to go home and write an adventure story of their own. These can be brought to school in January and we will submit them to her. Mrs. Brook is looking for a ton of creativity. The winner of this story writing contest will be a character in her new book.

This week, we wrote letters to Santa. Students learned the proper format of letter writing. The letters were mailed to the North Pole and we hope to hear back from him and his elves shortly. The Grade 3's had a lot of very interesting questions for Santa to answer!

We also had our turn to add to the school wide shared story. Every class had the opportunity to continue a story that was passed on from class to class. We used the picture below as inspiration. The completed adventure will be read to the school at next week's assembly.

We wrapped up our second unit in Math, "Numbers to 1000". We will be doing a review assignment on Monday and Tuesday. Their review and work will be sent home and a test will be given on Thursday.

We have been using the Chrome books a lot this year and feel that it would be beneficial for the students to learn some keyboarding skills. They started working on a program from the Black Gold website.  They were so eager to start learning about home row and proper finger placement. No more plucking at keys in 3FT!

Congratulations to our new "Student of the Week"!
