The students went back out on the ice for another week of skating for gym class. Thank you to all of the parents who came to help us tie skates and a SPECIAL thank you to our three parent volunteers who went on the ice with our students!

Jump Rope for Heart came to perform a kick off assembly for the school on Tuesday!
In Language Arts, the students worked on finishing their "Miss Smith" adventure stories. They are quite a creative bunch! We have been working on using "juicy" words in our writing to describe nouns. These stories will be published into a class book for them to enjoy during Read to Self. We also read "The Extraordinary Cat" from the Collections series. The students thought this story was hilarious and even joined together for a round of applause at the end. We talked about double vowels in words after reading a passage called "Double Trouble". We then worked as a class to sort words into "ea" as in neat, "ea" as in head, and "ea" as in tree.
In Math, we have been working on applying different math strategies for adding two digit numerals. Students worked on addition problems to demonstrate their understanding of regrouping
In Social, we finished researching all of the questions we had about Tunisia. We shared our findings and are ready to learn more about the culture.
This week in Science, we learned the different parts of the ear and how it senses vibrations. We also learned about measuring the loudness of sounds and talked about sounds that are a danger to the ear.
We will be wrapping up our "Hearing and Sound" unit next week by comparing the range of hearing in humans to other animals.
NEXT WEEK... We will have yoga on Wednesday for Phys Ed. We will also be going to Library on Wednesday so that the students have a good book for their long weekend.
